What is Home School?

Homeschooling is defined as parents taking responsibility for their child's education. Homeschooling does not have to happen only at home! Your child can learn at home with you and can also be part of a co-op group.

A co-op is made up of a group of families who meet regularly at various locations to work towards similar goals (education, socialization, enrichment activities and so on).

A pod is a group of students of similar age/level that learn together within the co-op.

City on a Hill - A Homeschool Co-op Group

City on a Hill is a Christ-centered community of believers that aims to create a Homeschooling Co-op group to serve the needs of homeschooling families here in Staten Island, NY.

In partnering with parents, teachers and the Church, our purpose is to encourage and equip homeschoolers throughout their journey. City on a Hill will provide your child with a plethora of learning tools and resources, social engagement and an opportunity to achieve academic excellence. As we seek to honor and glorify God in both our teaching and learning, we are confident that City on a Hill will bring Light, Love and Truth back into the academic arena.

How Can City on a Hill Help Me Homeschool My Child?

City on a Hill provides homeschooling families with community, teachers, learning spaces, enrichment classes and so much more for learners of all ages and abilities. Upon enrollment in our co-op, we will assess your child's levels of ability in both math and reading. We will provide appropriate placement for your child in one of our leveled learning pods and will provide you with teaching materials, learning spaces, licensed instructors and everything else in between to help you meet the demands of homeschooling.

Parent Involvement

In assisting you on your homeschooling journey, parent presence is a MUST while our pods are in session. Be sure to complete our Parent Involvement Form as part of your application process here at City on a Hill.

Please Note: Upon completion of the Parent Involvement Form a member of our staff will contact you shortly.

Our Pods

Our pods and learning spaces will be facilitated by licensed educators and will deliver appropriate instruction based on your child's levels and abilities.

Our membership fee is $500 per month per child. This monthly membership helps us provide you with learning resources and materials, maintain our learning environments and helps us to expand our co-op as we continue to help other homeschooling families in our community.

Schedule & Location

Our learning spaces for our homeschooling co-op will be available to families Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm . On Fridays, our learning spaces will be open from 9 am - Noon.

To request more information about homeschooling, fill out our Request More Information Form and a member of our staff will contact you via telephone.

The education of even a small child, therefore, does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life.
